Abstract: This paper tries to investigate the theoretical work of Fernando Pessoa, titled A Nova Poesia Portuguesa, so that It may verify the way that the writer enrolls the new Portuguese poetic movement, which has Antero de Quental as the precursor, to the great European literary tendencies. In order to observe the prominence place of Antero de Quental within the literary movement in Portugal, this study intends to analyse in the Odes Modernas characteristic elements indicated by Pessoa, which confirm the relevance of Antero de Quental and his work inside the New Portuguese Poetry.
Chronic Inflammation in Obesity and the Metabolic Syndrome

Abstract: The increasing incidence of obesity and the metabolic syndrome is disturbing. The activation of inflammatory pathways, used normally as host defence, reminds the seriousness of this condition. There is probably more than one cause for activation of inflammation. Apparently, metabolic overload evokes stress reactions, such as oxidative, inflammatory, organelle and cell hypertrophy, generating vicious cycles. Adipocyte hypertrophy, through physical reasons, facilitates cell rupture, what will evoke an inflammatory reaction. Inability of adipose tissue development to engulf incoming fat leads to deposition in other organs, mainly in the liver, with consequences on insulin resistance. The oxidative stress which accompanies feeding, particularly when there is excessive ingestion of fat and/or other macronutrients without concomitant ingestion of antioxidant-rich foods/beverages, may contribute to inflammation attributed to obesity. Moreover, data on the interaction of microbiota with food and obesity brought new hypothesis for the obesity/fat diet relationship with inflammation. Beyond these, other phenomena, for instance psychological and/or circadian rhythm disturbances, may likewise contribute to oxidative/inflammatory status. The difficulty in the management of obesity/metabolic syndrome is linked to their multifactorial nature where environmental, genetic and psychosocial factors interact through complex networks. 1. Obesity and the Metabolic Syndrome The incidence of the metabolic syndrome is high and increasing. Metabolic syndrome refers to a constellation of disturbances including glucose intolerance, central obesity, dyslipidemia (hypertriglyceridemia, elevated nonesterified fatty acids (NEFAs), and decreased high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol), and hypertension [1]. It can present in several forms, according to the combination of the different components of the syndrome, and it is well established that it increases the risk for the development of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer [2–4]. However, it is not yet clarified how it begins and how the different components are causally connected among them. Different study groups have drawn special attention to one or another component. For example, the American Association of Endocrinology does not consider obesity as a component and highlights the importance of insulin resistance to the syndrome [5]. Abstract: The present work aims to elaborate a review of the geochemical aspects used to compose the Raw Water Quality Index (WQI), highlighting lake environments and their importance for management practices. This paper is a bibliographic review based on specialized scientific and legislative literature conducted between April 2016 and March 2019. The scientific articles were selected by searching the Scielo database and the Periódicos Capes and the database search was performed using the terminologies registered in the Descriptors (Thesaurus) or Keywords (Scopus and Web of Science) for geosciences and environmental sciences. The WQI is the main quality index used in the country and is calculated based on nine parameters (water temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, total residue, biochemical oxygen demand, thermotolerant coliforms, total nitrogen, total phosphorus and turbidity). The values determined through the calculation of the WQI are classified in ranges that define the water quality, which varies between different Brazilian states. Among its mishaps, it is noteworthy that the WQI does not analyze other factors important for public supply, such as toxic substances (eg: heavy metals, pesticides, organic compounds), pathogenic protozoa and substances that interfere with the organoleptic properties of water, which are under other management tools. The systemic model of water resources management adopted for Brazil is still in the process of improvement, because it still works through a decentralized system where the public authorities, at different levels, have an active voice, thus requiring the commitment to make a long-term monitoring based on a reliable geochemical analysis, so that an integrated management can be carried out, allowing the synthesis and characterization of the current state and management criteria of lake environments, with the main objective of facing the conservation challenges allied to sustainable use of its resources.

Abstract: Background: Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) type 2 infection is predominantly found in West African nations, and approximately 1 - 2 million people are thought to be infected. HIV-associated nephropathy (HIVAN) occurs in about 7% of patients with HIV-1 infection and is one of the most important causes of end-stage renal disease in this population. The only reported case of HIVAN related to HIV-2 infection was described by Izzedine et al. (2006). Aim: The aim of this paper is to report a case of HIVAN in an HIV-2-infected patient, a rarely described condition. Case presentation: We describe a case of a 40-year-old HIV-2-infected female from Angola hospitalized following a six-month history of fever, fatigue, anorexia and weight loss. Laboratory data revealed anaemia, leukopenia and renal dysfunction with nephrotic range proteinuria. Renal biopsy was performed, revealing findings consistent with HIVAN. Also, a presumed diagnosis of ganglionic tuberculosis was established. Conclusion: The slow progression of HIV-2 disease could explain the low frequency of this condition, however, more studies should be carried out for a better understanding of HIV-2 pathophysiology and its associated complications.
Rediscovery of Melanepyris (Hymenoptera: Bethylidae): a new synonym of Epyris

Abstract: melanepyris kieffer, 1913 was proposed to accommodate a single species of epyris westwood, 1832, e. imicola kieffer, 1913, mainly based on the absence of the posterior propodeal carina. today, melanepyris includes only two nominal species. the type-material of these species has been considered lost since their original description. in this study, the single known adult male (holotype) of melanepyris asiaticus kieffer, 1922 from the philippines has been rediscovered, redescribed and illustrated. melanepyris asiaticus is transferred to epyris westwood due to the following features: scutellar groove absent, well separated scutellar pits and lower mesopleural fovea large and with undefined upper margin. we checked the original description of m. imicola and concluded that it also fits the definition of epyris perfectly, except for the (described) absence of a posterior carina. however, the thickness of the posterior carina of the propodeal disc varies within species of different epyrinae genera. the diagnostic characters used by kieffer to create melanepyris and other genera from epyris are briefly discussed. melanepyris is proposed as a new junior synonym of epyris, with the transfer of m. imicola to epyris.

Abstract: A presente pesquisa foi desenvolvida com o objetivo de identificar e analisar a produ o do conhecimento no Ensino Religioso por meio do estado da arte, nos livros produzidos no Brasil, no período de 1995 a 2010, a fim de contribuir na constru o da estrutura desta área do conhecimento e da forma o do(a) professor(a). Os(As) autores(as) que deram sustenta o teórica para esta investiga o foram: Bardin (1977), Junqueira (2002, 2007), Adami e Marchiori (2005), Lakatos (2001), Romanowski (2002 e 2006), Brand o (1986), Noronha e Ferreira (2000), Malhotra (1993), PCNER (1997), Oliveira L. (2007), Oliveira E. (2009), Laville e Dione (1999), Garcia (1997). A metodologia da investiga o foi qualitativa, empregada através da pesquisa exploratória e do tipo “estado da arte” ou “estado do conhecimento”. Foram analisadas setenta e sete obras, e o instrumento utilizado como referencial para classifica o de livros fora o roteiro aprovado pelo Conselho Técnico-Científico da Educa o Superior (CTC-ES), pois o que se buscava era estabelecer a identidade desta disciplina inserida no currículo escolar brasileiro. Esta análise identifica que há um crescimento da pesquisa nesta área de conhecimento, assim como da sistematiza o e divulga o por meio dos livros. Porém pode-se perceber que temos a carência de publica o de obras que abordem temas referentes à forma o de professores, sistematiza o dos aspectos pedagógicos e metodológicos, assim como de novas proposi es de estrutura curricular subsidiada pela Ciência da Religi o. Evidence for the Effects of Xanthohumol in Disrupting Angiogenic, but not Stable Vessels

Abstract: Angiogenesis is a complex multistep process that comprises proliferation, migration, and anastomosis of endothelial cells, followed by stabilization of the newly formed vessel through the attachment of support cells. This process is imbalanced in a large number of disorders, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. Evidence indicates that xanthohumol (XN), a prenylated chalcone present in beer, exerts anti-angiogenic properties. However, its precise effect within the angiogenic steps is not accurately established. The purpose of the present study was to examine which features of the angiogenic process can be disturbed by XN. Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and human fetal aortic smooth muscle cells (SMC) were incubated with xanthohumol at 5 and 10 mM, and cell viability, apoptosis, invasion and capillary-like structures formation were examined. Treatment with 10 mM XN significantly decreased viability and invasion capacity and increased apoptosis in both cell types as assessed by MTT, double-chamber assay and TUNEL assay respectively. The two concentrations of XN further led to a significant reduction in the number of capillary-like structures, when HUVEC were cultured on growth factor reduced-Matrigel-coated plates. Interestingly, XN exhibited the opposite effect when HUVEC were co-cultured with SMC, leading to an increase in the number of cord structures. In addition, incubation of both types of cells with XN resulted in reduced activity of NFkB, a transcription factor implicated in these cell fates. Given the absence of adverse effects in mature vasculature by XN, these findings emphasize the potential use of XN against pathological situations where angiogenesis is stimulated.
Review of Neurepyris Kieffer, 1905 (Hymenoptera, Bethylidae), a new synonym of Pristocera Klug, 1808

Abstract: The genus Neurepyris Kieffer, 1905 is revised. The adult male holotypes N. rufiventer Kieffer, 1913 from Eritrea and N. tagala (Ashmead, 1905) from the Philippines are redescribed and illustrated. Both species are transferred from the subfamily Epyrinae to Pristocerinae because they have the metanotum well developed medially. Neurepyris rufiventer is transferred to Pristocera Klug, 1808 because the hypopygium is deeply divided into two apical lobes, the subdiscoidal and cubital veins do not reach the border of the forewing, the pronotal disc has the anterior region slightly elevate medially, and the stigma is elongate. Neurepyris tagala is transferred to Apenesia Westwood, 1874 because the basal tooth of mandible is not curved inward, the median lobe of clypeus is not depressed near the antennal insertions, and the aedeagus consists of one lamina. The genus Neurepyris is considered a junior synonym of Pristocera because its type species is N. rufiventer.

Abstract: several studies have been published concerning epstein-barr virus (ebv) infection and nasopharyngeal cancer (npc) development. the incidences of histological types are different according to endemic or non-endemic regions. latent ebv infection is found in almost all cases of npc in endemic regions, but normally absent in type i carcinomas, more common in non-endemic regions. aim: the purpose of this hospital-based study was to analyze the presence of ebv in nasopharyngeal tumor tissues and in peripheral blood of nasopharyngeal cancer patients and healthy individuals, in a low risk, non-endemic area. methods: ebv detection in samples of nasopharyngeal cancer patients and healthy individuals. results: this study indicates that the frequency of ebv positive cases in peripheral blood is higher in advanced tumor stages. conclusions: the incidence rates of npc have a distinct distribution. since the prevalence of this disease is low in occidental countries, little is known about the biology of these tumors in non-endemic areas. we observed statistically significant differences in ebv detection between the npc patient group and the control group. this study may help to understand the biological mechanisms of npc and the correlation of ebv infection with this disease, in a low risk, non-endemic region.
